This calculator is arithmetic, not a quotation or technical approval. Confirm grade, moisture basis, packing, freight scope, taxes or services, validity, delivery and evidence for the actual order.

The comparison formula

Landed cost equals the salt rate multiplied by quantity, plus any extra packing per tonne, total freight, testing or inspection, unloading and other included order-level charges. Dividing that total by the common quantity gives a comparable ₹/MT result.

The tool deliberately separates per-tonne and per-order fields. It does not estimate freight, taxes, quality impact or credit cost. Enter the actual quote scope and preserve the assumptions with the purchasing decision.

Technical acceptance comes before price ranking

A cheap quotation that fails the mandatory chemistry, product form, pack or evidence requirement is not the lowest qualified offer. Clear the specification first and uncheck any technically unacceptable quote so it is excluded from the ranking.

Use the same grade, moisture basis, packing, quantity, destination and delivery window for every supplier. If an offer differs, either obtain a corrected quote or show the difference as an explicit cost or approved deviation.

Costs this arithmetic does not invent

Freight is route- and date-specific. Testing depends on the agreed laboratory and methods. Detention depends on the vehicle and receiving site. Process loss or brine-treatment cost depends on the actual material and plant. The calculator leaves these fields with the buyer rather than presenting a made-up national average.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator send my supplier prices to India Salt?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Values are not submitted or saved by the tool.

Does the lowest result mean I should buy that quote?

No. It ranks only quotations you mark technically acceptable and only the costs you enter. Verify every commercial and technical term.

Is freight included in India Salt's catalogue rate?

No. The published product rate is ex-refinery. Freight is confirmed at actual cost or arranged by the buyer.
