Give the product, tonnage, dispatch preference if any, exact delivery PIN code, site contact, approach-road limits, vehicle type, unloading method, working hours and whether e-way, weighbridge or special documents are required.

When buyer-arranged transport is sensible
A buyer with a contracted lane, return-load network or strict transporter approval may secure better economics and control. Supplier-arranged freight can be simpler for a trial or unfamiliar origin. India Salt supports either: freight at actuals or buyer nomination.

Send the transporter one written lane brief: dispatch address, destination with PIN code, product and packing, net tonnage, expected gross weight, vehicle body, loading method, unloading responsibility, working hours, route restrictions, e-way or permit needs, weighbridge basis and requested pickup window. Ask whether tolls, loading delays, multi-point delivery and detention are included.
Define what happens when the vehicle arrives early, late or outside the receiving window. Record free waiting time, detention rate, who can approve extra charges and the evidence required. For loose salt, add weather protection, tipper compatibility and cleaning expectations; for bags, add tarpaulin, stacking and damage-count procedure.

Is a delivered quote always better than ex-refinery?
Neither basis is automatically better. Compare the same total scope, risk and accountability. A buyer-arranged lane can be economical, while a supplier-arranged trial can be simpler.
Who pays detention?
The quotation or transport instruction should state free time and detention responsibility. Do not leave it to assumption at the gate.
