Bulk industrial sodium chloride

Industrial sodium chloride (NaCl) for chemical-industry buyers

India Salt supplies commodity industrial sodium chloride in loose and bagged formats with published quantity pricing. Chemical buyers should purchase against a process-specific chemistry—not a generic purity headline—and confirm the lot, certificate, sampling rule and delivery basis before dispatch.

Bulk NaCl formats and current commercial starting points

Sodium chloride, common salt and industrial salt are overlapping commercial names, but the requested grade still controls the offer. India Salt's industrial catalogue covers crystalline commodity NaCl supplied loose or in 25 kg and 50 kg PP bags. It does not claim laboratory-reagent, analytical, pharmaceutical or injectable grade.

The prices below are ex-refinery catalogue starting points for the first volume band. Quantity discounts are calculated on the product page. Generic packing and loading are included for bagged products; freight, custom packing, special testing and any tighter chemistry are confirmed for the actual order.

Why minor constituents matter

Sodium chloride percentage is only one line in an industrial specification. Calcium and magnesium can increase brine-treatment load; sulphate, insolubles and iron can affect downstream operation, colour, filtration or residue. Moisture changes flow behaviour and the dry-salt content delivered per tonne.

The relative importance of each parameter depends on the process. A buyer should involve the plant or quality team before a commercial order and define which values are rejection criteria, which are informational and which testing method governs a dispute.

Build an RFQ that suppliers can answer correctly

Include the intended process, required standard or full parameter table, monthly and lot quantity, packing, dispatch cadence, delivery location, sample protocol, test-certificate requirement and acceptance process. State whether the commercial quote should be ex-works, FOR destination or another defined basis.

For a new source, use a representative sample or paid commercial trial before committing the full monthly programme. A lab result from a small sample is useful, but it should be paired with a plan for lot identification and consistent dispatch.

  • NaCl on the agreed basis
  • Moisture and insoluble matter
  • Calcium, magnesium, sulphate and iron limits
  • Particle size if relevant
  • Sampling, test method and certificate issuer
  • Packing, lot size and delivery schedule

Trial, COA and acceptance workflow

A credible sequence is requirement review, representative sample or paid trial, agreed acceptance table, lot-linked certificate, first commercial dispatch and performance review. The buyer should decide whether an internal manufacturer COA is sufficient or whether an independent, NABL-accredited or government laboratory is required for the named method.

Keep the approved specification and the delivered-lot identity together. A report from another product, plant or month is background evidence; it is not proof of the truck at the gate. If the buyer will test after arrival, the purchase order should define joint sampling, retained samples, turnaround time and the consequence of a disputed result.

Commercial comparison after technical qualification

Compare only technically acceptable offers. Then normalize product price, packaging, testing, freight, unloading, credit and expected process loss. A low salt rate can be uneconomic if it raises brine purification cost, waste, downtime or rejection risk.

India Salt publishes a commercial base rate and supports quantities from 1 MT. The plant specification must still be accepted in writing before any page should be treated as a technical offer.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order on India Salt?

The published catalogue accepts whole-metric-tonne quantities from 1 MT. For larger or repeating requirements, buyers can use the same product page to calculate the goods value and start with a capped deposit.

Are packing and freight included?

Generic packing and loading are included in the displayed product price. Freight is confirmed at actual cost after the order, or the buyer may arrange a transporter. Custom packaging is quoted separately at actual cost.

Is GST charged on salt in India?

Salt under HSN 2501 is listed at a nil GST rate by CBIC. Buyers should still ensure the invoice description, HSN and any bundled services match the actual transaction.

Which grade of salt is used by chemical industries?

The Salt Commissioner Organisation publishes IS 797 Grade I and Grade II reference requirements. The correct grade and tighter contractual limits depend on the buyer’s process.

Can I order a 1 MT industrial trial?

The online catalogue accepts 1 MT. Confirm the required chemistry, sample and acceptance conditions before treating a trial as representative of a long-term supply programme.
