Confirm the form your system is designed to use
‘Water-treatment salt’ can describe different products. Some domestic and commercial softeners are designed for compressed tablets or pellets with controlled dissolution. India Salt’s current industrial catalogue is crystalline salt supplied loose or in bags. Do not substitute it into equipment specified for tablets without written approval from the equipment provider.
Bulk crystalline salt may be relevant in brine preparation and other industrial treatment processes, subject to the plant design. The buyer should state the equipment, dosing method, screen or particle-size need, brine tank arrangement and the chemistry limits that affect operation.
Quality questions for brine preparation
Ask about sodium chloride, moisture, insolubles, calcium, magnesium and particle size. Insolubles can accumulate as residue; calcium and magnesium can influence hardness or downstream treatment; excessive fines or inconsistent crystals can affect handling and dissolution.
These are process considerations, not a universal product promise. The acceptable values must come from the system designer or process owner and be confirmed for the offered lot.
Choose packing around storage and dosing
Loose delivery can reduce packaging cost where a site has protected bulk storage and mechanised handling. Bagged supply is often simpler for controlled manual charging, multiple treatment points or facilities without a bulk receiving system.
Include the delivery PIN code, access restrictions, unloading method, covered-storage capacity and expected consumption in the RFQ. Those details can change the practical landed cost more than a small difference in the ex-refinery salt rate.
Buyer questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order on India Salt?
The published catalogue accepts whole-metric-tonne quantities from 1 MT. For larger or repeating requirements, buyers can use the same product page to calculate the goods value and start with a capped deposit.
Are packing and freight included?
Generic packing and loading are included in the displayed product price. Freight is confirmed at actual cost after the order, or the buyer may arrange a transporter. Custom packaging is quoted separately at actual cost.
Is GST charged on salt in India?
Salt under HSN 2501 is listed at a nil GST rate by CBIC. Buyers should still ensure the invoice description, HSN and any bundled services match the actual transaction.
Do you sell water-softener salt tablets or pellets?
No. The current India Salt catalogue covers loose and bagged crystalline industrial salt. It does not list compressed softener tablets or pellets.
Can loose industrial salt be used in my softener?
Only if the equipment or process designer confirms that the system accepts the offered crystalline salt and specification. Do not substitute product forms based on the words ‘water-treatment salt’ alone.
