Private-label and custom salt packing: build the brief first

India Salt publishes generic 1 kg pouch formats and accepts custom-packaging requests at actual cost. A private-label order needs a written product, compliance, artwork, film, quantity and delivery brief before feasibility or price can be confirmed.

What is included in the published pouch price

The catalogue offers refined iodized salt sealed in 1 kg pouches and packed into either 25 kg or 50 kg outer bags. The displayed rate includes a standard pouch-packing charge. It should not be read as an unconditional quote for a buyer’s branded film, artwork, cylinder, special laminate or retail distribution programme.

Custom packaging is charged at actual cost after the requirement is reviewed. The quote may depend on material, print colours, cylinder or plate needs, wastage, minimum run, outer packing and the production schedule.

A complete private-label brief

State the product type, target pack size, quantity per SKU, monthly forecast, markets, brand owner, licence roles, film structure, dimensions, print colours, barcode, outer case or bag and delivery plan. Provide editable artwork and a signed-off content owner.

For edible salt, the brand owner and manufacturer should review the current food-safety, iodization, labelling, traceability and pack declarations that apply. India Salt’s page is not a substitute for that regulatory approval process.

  • Product and applicable standard
  • Pack size and units per outer bag
  • Artwork and statutory declarations
  • Film/laminate and print specification
  • Trial quantity and commercial run
  • Quality plan, coding and batch traceability
  • Dispatch schedule and destination

Use a paid trial to remove ambiguity

Before a large launch, validate salt flow, fill weight, seals, print registration, pouch strength, outer packing, carton or bag count and transit behaviour. Retain approved samples and document the tolerances that will govern the commercial run.

A trial also reveals hidden dependencies such as artwork changes, barcode approval, film lead time and storage needs. That is more valuable than choosing a supplier from a per-tonne headline alone.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order on India Salt?

The published catalogue accepts whole-metric-tonne quantities from 1 MT. For larger or repeating requirements, buyers can use the same product page to calculate the goods value and start with a capped deposit.

Are packing and freight included?

Generic packing and loading are included in the displayed product price. Freight is confirmed at actual cost after the order, or the buyer may arrange a transporter. Custom packaging is quoted separately at actual cost.

Is GST charged on salt in India?

Salt under HSN 2501 is listed at a nil GST rate by CBIC. Buyers should still ensure the invoice description, HSN and any bundled services match the actual transaction.

Is custom branding included in the online price?

No. The online pouch price is a published product rate. Custom-branded materials and related setup are confirmed and charged at actual cost after the packaging brief is reviewed.

What pack sizes are currently shown?

The current catalogue shows 1 kg pouches inside 25 kg or 50 kg outer bags. Any other retail pack size requires separate feasibility and pricing confirmation.
